BOCA RATON, FL – May 5, 2025, 3:45 PM EDT – The National Weather Service has issued multiple weather alerts for Palm Beach County, including Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and Boynton Beach, as a dangerous storm system moves through South Florida.
⚠️ SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH IN EFFECT UNTIL 9:00 PM

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch (WS 224) for a broad section of South Florida, including Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade Counties. This means conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms, which may include:
- Damaging winds over 60 mph
- Large hail
- Frequent lightning
- Localized flash flooding
Everyone in the region should remain alert and monitor conditions closely.
⛈️ ACTIVE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING
At 3:09 PM, a severe thunderstorm was spotted near Dunes Road, just outside Boynton Beach, moving southeast at 10 mph. The storm is producing:
- Observed hail up to 1.25 inches (half-dollar size)
- Winds up to 60 mph

🌧️ FLOOD ADVISORY UNTIL 5:45 PM
A Flood Advisory is also in effect for Palm Beach County as of 3:42 PM due to excessive rainfall. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have already fallen, with another 1–2 inches expected. Minor flooding is either occurring or imminent in:
- Low-lying and poorly drained areas
- Roadways in Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, and surrounding communities
- Morikami Park, Kings Point, Villages of Oriole, and Ocean Ridge
