BOCA RATON, FL (May 11, 2025) — The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Palm Beach County and much of South Florida, effective from Monday morning through Tuesday morning. This alert comes amid growing concern over expected heavy rainfall and thunderstorms that could impact the region beginning late Sunday night.

Weather Outlook:
- This Afternoon (Sunday, May 11): A slight 10% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5 p.m. Partly sunny, breezy, with a high near 85°F. Southeast winds around 17 mph, gusting up to 25 mph.
- Tonight: Conditions will turn mostly cloudy with a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms developing overnight, especially after 3 a.m. Lows will hover around 76°F, with southeast winds continuing at 17 mph and gusts up to 23 mph. Rainfall could total up to a quarter of an inch, with higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
- Monday (May 12): A significant uptick in storm activity is expected. Showers and thunderstorms are likely throughout the day with a 90% chance of precipitation. Temperatures will reach near 83°F, and breezy southeast winds will persist. Rainfall could total between a half and three-quarters of an inch, with locally higher totals in some areas.
Due to this forecast, the National Weather Service has placed Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, and many other parts of South Florida under a Flood Watch beginning Monday at 8 a.m. through Tuesday at 8 a.m.
Flooding may occur in low-lying and poorly drained areas, particularly if thunderstorms produce heavy, slow-moving rainfall. Residents are advised to monitor local forecasts, avoid driving through flooded streets, and secure outdoor items that could be affected by gusty winds.
