West Palm Beach, FL – April 26, 2025 — Authorities are continuing to investigate a fatal deputy-involved shooting that occurred early Saturday morning during a domestic violence incident in West Palm Beach.

Shortly after 3:00 a.m., Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) deputies responded to a residence in the 6400 block of Emerald Dunes Drive following reports of an armed domestic dispute.
Upon entering the residence, deputies witnessed a male actively stabbing another adult male with a sword. Deputies issued multiple verbal commands for the suspect to drop the weapon. When the suspect failed to comply, a deputy discharged his firearm, striking the suspect.
Deputies immediately rendered medical aid to both the victim and the suspect. Unfortunately, despite life-saving efforts, both individuals succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
2ND UPDATE: Victims Identified

PBSO has identified the deceased victim as Tyrone Riser, DOB: September 9, 1972, and the deceased suspect as Alonzo Riser, DOB: January 27, 2005. Authorities confirmed that the victim and suspect were father and son, residing together at 6434 Emerald Dunes Drive.
The weapon used in the attack — a sword — was recovered from the scene.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Division, the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) are actively investigating the incident.
Following standard protocol, the deputy involved has been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the results of the investigation.
