“We are better because of you!” CEO Sherry A. Henry said after celebrating three new additions to the HabCenter Boca Raton that has served adults with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities since 1978.

Supporters from other nonprofits and the Boca Chamber joined the HabCenter’s board, staff and parents for a ribbon cutting and open house to add patio shades by SafeSun, courtesy of Councilwoman Fran Nachlas; the Schnittman Classroom courtesy of Barry Schnittman; and an educational STEAM Center. Three clients talked about job training and placement through their manufacturing center and plant nursery, and programs encouraging self-respect and independence.

“They make you feel like family,” Kathie Marks, a volunteer whose daughter was there, said to this reporter. “I’m so thankful I found this place.”
“Keep the HabCenter at the top of your mind. We need all of you to support us as volunteers, board members and make a gift,” Henry told the crowd assembled outside for the ribbon cutting.
Among the familiar faces were HabCenter board president Lynn University’s Barbara Cambia and board members Boca Chamber executive v.p. Sarah Pearson and Mindy Sloane Shikiar. Also there were Spirit of Giving’s Lindy Harvey; Autism After 21 Michelle Rubin; Rotary Club of Boca Raton’s OPAL co-chair Jan Savarick and Alana St. John, Rales Jewish Family Services. The HabCenter’s Maryanne Rodriguez closed out the program before newcomers were offered a tour. https://habcenter.org/
