Boca Raton, FL – Children in the two underserved parks in West Palm Beach are receiving free art lessons thanks to a grant from the Artists of Palm Beach County (APBC) to the Mandel Public Library.
The new art programming on the Mandel Mobile includes weekly craft projects that the children can do after completing their homework, larger instructor-led art projects during school breaks, and kits of materials such as colored pencils, markers, crayons, child-safe scissors, glue sticks,

and paper that the kids can use at home to further their interest and abilities in art. The APBC instructor-led activities will continue throughout the summer.
Three days each week, the Mandel Mobile offers homework help from certified teachers, iPads with internet access, and reading assistance in Fogelman and Sullivan Parks. Mandel Public Library staff members Chris Spicer and Selin Ramirez transport the van with tables, chairs, iPads, and snacks to assist teachers and art instructors.
Carole Pichney, APBC President, said, “It was so exciting to see all of the children, and many of their parents, streaming out from the streets surrounding Sullivan Park to do the art projects. The children, ranging in age from one year to 12 years old, enjoyed the projects at their levels. APBC is fortunate to have an anonymous donor who loves and funds this program.
