According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division, Lopez was traveling northbound on US Highway 27 in the inside lane when her vehicle drifted toward the center median, crossing into the southbound lanes.

Her BMW broke through the western guardrail, continued northwest, and crashed into a tree. The impact caused Lopez to be ejected from the vehicle, which overturned onto its driver’s side and came to rest next to the tree facing south.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue pronounced Lopez deceased at the scene. Authorities have not determined whether speed, distraction, or impairment were factors in the crash.
